Business Visits Continue

Through our Future Hope Program, the older children visited Farmatrix Laboratories, a pharmaceutical manufacturer.  They were able to ask questions about careers in the industry and get an inside look at how vitamins & medicines are made.  It was an amazing opportunity, and all part of our strategy to provide orphan care that reduces the future demand for orphan care!

Family Hope Reunifications

This summer two of our children – Cindy & Jean Paul – were reunified with their families as a result of our Family Hope program!  We believe an orphanage cannot replace the love and belonging that children find in safe and nourishing homes, which is why we are overjoyed when children can return to their families’ homes.  Cindy came into …

Business Visits

During the summer while the children are out of school, we place an emphasis on encouraging the children think about their futures.  We visit several local businesses so the children can see what some of the job and career opportunities are in Haiti.  In July, the children visited Anacaona soap factory, which recycles soap from hotels, creating jobs while promoting …

School Year Wrap Up

This school year has been unusual and very challenging.  Over the course of the year the children missed a total of 2 weeks of school due to the political protests in Port au Prince.  In early June, classes were again cancelled, meaning our students did not take their end-of-year exams. Although the end of the year was bittersweet, we are …

Protests Feb 20

Life is returning to normal in Port Au Prince.  We have been able to restock essentials like water, food, and propane. Our kiddos are back in school.  We are so thankful for this! Although the protests have stopped, the underlying issues have yet to be addressed.  It is very likely that in the months ahead, there will be more protests …

Protests Feb 13

Dear friends of Child Hope International,   We know we rarely get news from Haiti in the US.  You may not be aware that the nation of Haiti and the city of Port au Prince have been paralyzed for the last 7 days with political protests and violent demonstrations that have left at least eight people dead, a dozen inured, …

Winter Internships

Over Christmas break, 2 of our older youth had internships at Big Star Market grocery store.  Their responsibilities were to remove expired products from shelves and correctly price items.  This was their first internship experience, and they did a great job!  They learned very important job skills, and we are planning to offer many other internship experiences in the future …
