Farewell from Gabrielle Nord
After recently resigning from my position of two years as Team Coordinator and Donor Relations Admin, it is my honor and privilege to write about my time at Child Hope International. From my first trip in August, 2011 to my last day in the office two weeks ago, the Lord has continued to show me His heart for His people not only in Haiti, but around the world.
Coming into this position as a second year college student at UC Santa Barbara, I wasn’t sure what to expect nor if I was even adequate enough for the position. Yet the Lord soon showed me that it wasn’t about having the right skill set or being adequate enough, He was going to use me in whatever way possible because He had already stirred an army that was working on building His kingdom in Haiti.
I was humbled by the incredible individuals that had been behind Child Hope since the beginning, dedicating their lives to become missionaries or being avid volunteers and donors, making at least one or more trips a year on their own dollar. I realized that I was a part of something bigger than myself, a part of a family with one big beating heart for the people of Haiti.
Over the past three year this family has grown even bigger and has experienced many operational transitions and changes, yet the Lord continues to provide and to pull on the heart strings of those captivated by Haiti. In three short years we have witnessed the Medical Clinic expand into its own building, MDL School expand into a secondary school, Junior Fan Fan graduate from High School, Markenson get married, and many more events to be proud of. Yet all of this is because of the Lord and His faithful people and resulted in the continuos joy I felt while working for Child Hope International.
After graduating from UC Santa Barbara on June 14th with my degree in Environmental Studies, the Lord has called me to a new adventure. Next week I will depart for a two-month excursion, exploring Europe with some of my best friends and then will hopefully be returning to Santa Barbara in the near future. However, no matter where I am or what I’m doing, Child Hope will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for times we’ve shared and for your generous spirits!
“Sing praises to God and to his name! Sing loud praises to him who rides the clouds. His name is the LORD—rejoice in his presence! Father to the fatherless, defender of widows—this is God, whose dwelling is holy.” Psalm 68:4-5
