Katherine Gavin Leaving Haiti to Run a New Race
Katherine Gavin has been involved with Child Hope for almost two years. Last June, she came as an intern with the transition program. In September, she began working with the teams that visit Child Hope, coordinating projects and activities.
During her year of service in Haiti, Katherine blessed many with her cheerful presence and faith-filled energy. Now the Lord has called her to a new form of service. Katherine says about her year with Child Hope:
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I never expected what I got out of my experience. The children of Child Hope radiate Jesus. It never mattered what we were doing, the Lord was always present. I have learned how to love, worship, and devote time to the Lord through these kids. They impact everyone who comes through Child Hope.
Katherine hopes to be back in Haiti again, but next for her is a year-long mission trip called the World Race. This unique trip helps mission-minded individuals explore many different options and find their strengths and callings. Katherine will be visiting 11 countries: Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, Burma, Cambodia, Thailand, Turkey, Romani, Bulgaria, and Albania. In each country her team will have opportunities to teach, do street evangelism, orphan care, and discipleship.
You can read more about Katherine’s plans on her blog. We and the children at The Lighthouse are grateful for the time Katherine spent in Haiti and pray God continues to bless her and use her in His service.
