Disaster Relief

It has been a difficult time for Haiti, and a difficult week for our staff on the ground as many have gotten word of relatives’ homes in ruin after the massive earthquake. One of our families reunited in the south lost their home completely, but they are safe, as are the rest of our children, families, and staff.

The 7.2-magnitude earthquake death toll is nearing 2,100 and it’s estimated nearly 10,000 injured and in need of medical care. Many anticipate these numbers to climb. As first responders make their way through the region, Child Hope social workers and psychologists are preparing support measures to our partners and families in the region.

Child Hope is committed to standing with vulnerable families and children throughout Haiti. Numerous families in the south have been hurled into crisis. History has taught us that crisis often separates families. We will be partnering with family focused organizations working towards orphan prevention and helping families rebuild. An orphanage should be the last resort and we will do our part to help families stay together through this traumatic event.

Child Hope will be accepting donations marked as “Disaster Relief” to assist those in the region who are working to keep families together. If you would like to give, you may do so at www.childhope.org/donate and select “Disaster Relief” as your category.

Please continue to pray for those grieving the loss of life and, as always, thank you for walking with us through these tumultuous times.
