Because of the fragility of life in Haiti and regular occurrence of natural disasters, we have been uniquely situated to bring aid in crisis situations. During the massive January 2010 earthquake that devastated Haiti, Maison de Lumiere served as a triage center for the severely injured. You can read about these events and view video by following the links on our Media page. In the earthquake, many people lost their homes and all of their possessions. Subsequent natural disasters, such as hurricanes and flash floods, have only made their situations more dire.
Through disaster relief donations, Child Hope has been able to repair homes, build new cinder block houses, and replace the basic necessities imperative for survival. In addition, we have been able to issue grants to those in need to cover rent and to assist with moving expenses for those who want to relocate back into their villages.
