God’s intention for humanity is community. The most basic and necessary form of community is family, which is why our Family Hope program strives to reunify separated children with their families. While many children in Haiti live in orphanages, our desire is that it would be a temporary and last resort.
Children raised in a loving, supportive family have better outcomes than those raised in institutions. Family reunification initiates systemic change in the orphan cycle from the bottom up.
Through our Family Hope Program we strive to build healthy relationships between the children and their families, welcome visits from family members, arrange home visits, and whenever possible work towards reunification. If reunification is an option, we identify the specific needs of the family and walk alongside them, empowering them toward the independent care of their children.
