“Vin Aprann” – Come and Learn
“Vin Aprann,” literally translates to “Come Learn,” in Haitian Creole. And that is exactly what we want to invite you, your friends, and your family members to do…come to Haiti and learn!
Titus 3:14 tells us, “Our people must also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful.” Learning is a part of our lives from the day we are born until the day we die. We are called to learn how to engage in good deeds in order that we may help others. How do we engage with different cultures in healthy ways when we know very little about them? How do we help others in positive ways that push them forward and not back? How does learning about a culture translate into being helpful to them?
At Child Hope, we believe that knowledge is power. It is our desire to invite all those that are interested in Haiti and Child Hope to come let us show you the beauty and struggle that is Haiti. It is our deep desire that the world knows more about the realities of Haiti. There are so many complexities in a developing country like Haiti that we often only look at what it lacks and not beyond the need to see what is developing and thriving there. To be sure, Haiti is still in need of help. So, what does that help look like?
One way we are in deep need of help as a ministry is through advocacy. We would love for individuals to partner with us by sharing their stories of Haiti and Child Hope with their friends, families and communities. The best advocates come from those that have tasted and seen firsthand. In John 20:24-29, the risen Christ asks Thomas to touch his wounds so that not only he would believe but all those that hear Thomas’ experience would believe as well. Through the Vinn Aprann experience we are praying that you, like the apostle Thomas, would be able to go forth and share with others the realities of Haiti. Share of its struggles and its joy with your families, friends, small groups, co-workers and churches. Share what you have learned and seen, and how they can get involved in Haiti and Child Hope.
The Vin Aprann trips are designed to give each team member a window into the ministry of Child Hope International, and then provide a broader perspective of how what we are doing fits into the greater work that God is doing in the country of Haiti as a whole. Your trip will include activities like hiking in the mountains, spending a day at the beach, visiting other organizations that are helping their communities develop, seeing local artisans, and of course, meeting the staff and children of Child Hope International!
Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Do you want to be a world changer? Come and learn on one of Vin Aprann trips! We hope to see you soon!
