Welcome Karen, Builder for the Master Builder
God has given Karen Holdcraft the skills of a builder and she has been seeking opportunities to use these skills for His glory since she became a Christian in 1994. One of her life principles is expressed in this quote from Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby: “Find out where God is working and join him.”
Joining in God’s work has led Karen to Mexico where she worked on building projects for Calvary Chapel Ensenda, and to Nicaragua, where she helped build a church, school, and orphanage. Her last three years were spent at a Calvary Chapel Bible College in Germany, where she did facilities maintenance and led outreach teams on building projects.
After returning to the states, she began praying about her next project. Through her connection with Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara, she learned about Child Hope’s work in Haiti and was invited to come and visit the facilities and see the land in Kenscoff where Child Hope is planning the Lighthouse Village and Conference Center. When she saw the property, she knew that this would be a perfect location for orphans to grow up and she could clearly imagine the cottage homes completed and filled with children.
On the drive down the mountain back to Port au Prince, she felt the Holy Spirit whisper in her heart, “All you have to do is say yes.” So she turned to the Child Hope staff with her and said “Yes.”
Karen, who knows multiple languages, has already completed the first step in preparing to supervise construction in Haiti: four months of language school learning Creole.
Please pray for the building project that all of the complexities of land ownership and construction in Haiti will be managed by the skillful hands of Jesus Christ, the creator and builder of all things. And pray for Karen to be given a special anointing for this project.
