What are the care options for children who have been separated from their parents?
Faith to Action, an organization that provides scripture-endorsed and evidence-based resources for Christians seeking to respond to the needs of orphans and vulnerable children around the world, created a publication which outlines a range of alternative care options. In keeping with research on the importance of family in the life of a child, the continuum places a high priority on family care while also recognizing the role that temporary residential care and small group homes can play in the spectrum of options to meet individual situations and needs.
Child Hope International has used the continuum of care to inform the work we do with children in Haiti. Our Family Hope program, which draws from Faith to Action, research from other organizations, and most importantly, our conviction from the Holy Spirit, focuses on reconnecting and, when possible, reunifying children with their families.
