In a country where it is estimated that less than 20% of students graduate from high school, this young man’s determination and resilience shine as a beacon of hope!
Throughout his school career, this Future Hope student has encountered numerous roadblocks that threatened to derail his educational aspirations. Haiti’s political climate has been turbulent, leading to frequent protests and civil unrest, which have disrupted the functioning of schools. Additionally, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic forced prolonged school closures and remote learning. To make things worse, the presence of gangs made it unsafe for students and educators to carry on with their daily activities.
On July 7th we celebrated his high school graduation. It was a joyful and energetic ceremony including a dance that he helped choreograph!
He is still deciding what to do next, but is interested in seeing if dance may play a part in his future. We are excited to continue supporting him in the next chapter!
