One of Child Hope International’s core programs is our Transition Support Services, where we coach orphanages on the importance of family. To date, we have trained over 130 social workers and orphanage staff on family-based care!
During these Family-Based Care training sessions, we identified a pressing need for child protection training in many orphanages. In response, we developed a comprehensive Child Protection training program this year. We found that this seminar has value not only for orphanages, but other organizations, too.
Earlier this month, we conducted a Child Protection training session for a partner organization operating a boarding school. The session was attended by the Program Manager, nannies, and even a nun.
Although the boarding school staff had existing Child Protection Policy documents, they admitted that their procedures had become a bit rusty without regular training. Our team was impressed by the cohort’s engagement and eagerness to learn. By the end of the last module, they were so enthusiastic that they didn’t want the training to end!
Child protection is paramount when working with children. We are proud to offer this vital training to organizations in Haiti, knowing it will have a positive and lasting impact on vulnerable children.
