Earlier this year we shared that Child Hope International was in the midst of training 34 parents through our pilot project of the Families Count Biblical parenting program. This training, offered in partnership with the Haitian church, equips parents with practical tools and biblical principles for raising their children. By working alongside local pastors and church leaders, we’re helping parents reconcile and reunite with their children who are living in orphanages.
As we began working more closely with the 34 families, we discovered that they were not directly affected by the orphanage system as we had been led to believe. This experience highlighted the need for deeper, more trusted relationships within the communities where we serve.
With that in mind, we’re shifting our Families Count work to a community in the South where two of our staff members live. This will allow us to build on existing trust, follow up more consistently, and continue partnering with the local church to bring lasting change to families in crisis.
We are encouraged by what God is teaching us through this pilot season. Every step, even the unexpected ones, is helping us strengthen our approach. We have emphasized deepening partnerships with the Haitian church, the government, and other organizations with a similar mission.
Thank you for your continued prayers and partnership. Together, we are helping to restore families and bring hope to communities across Haiti.
