Our Transition Support Services (TSS) program helps Haitian orphanages transition to family-based care. One of the main services we provide is a 2-day workshop open to social workers from across Haiti which gives a crash course in family reunification. At the end of the workshop the social workers receive a certificate of completion and have a stronger understanding of children’s rights and child protection policies.
Since launching our TSS program last year, we have hosted three workshops – the most recent of which was in March. Our staff trained 19 new social workers who are responsible for over 500 children! Our hope is that some of the social workers who attend will recommend their orphanage take the next step and engage our mentoring and coaching services so we can assist them more directly with the transition to family-based care.
