Transition Support Services

Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.
-Romans 14:19

There are over 750 orphanages in Haiti. An estimated 80% of the children living in these orphanages are not “true orphans,” and have at least one living parent who could care for them with proper support.

The Transition Support Services (TSS) program works with orphanages in Haiti to help them transition from institutional care to family-based care. After an orphanage places all of its children into safe, loving families, the building can be re-purposed as a community center, which can further support families and children!

Many orphanages are interested in making this transition, but are facing challenges and finding that change is not easy to implement. Child Hope is a case study of a successful transition from institutional care to family-based care in Haiti. We are eager to share our knowledge and resources with other orphanages that, like us, believe the best place for a child to grow up is in a family. We provide coaching, mentoring, and technical know-how to accelerate the reunification processes taking place within these orphanages.

Our TSS staff also host annual national workshops for orphanage directors & social workers which equip others to begin reunification work and gather leads of orphanages that would benefit from one-on-one coaching. The attendees often work with close to 50 children, meaning our annual workshops have the potential to impact thousands of children each year!

If you are connected to an orphanage in Haiti that is considering transitioning to family-based care but need guidance, please contact us!

Please consider becoming a monthly partner to support the work of reconciling and reunifying children from orphanages back to their loving families.
