After a decade of providing care to orphans and vulnerable children, Child Hope felt God was placing an even higher call on the ministry – to invest in families.
In 2016 we began to explore family-based care for the children living at the orphanage.
Over the past six years we have placed 18 children and 8 young adults in the care of their biological families or foster care. Last month, the final four children living at the orphanage were reunified with their families!
This is a HUGE milestone for Child Hope, but trust us when we say, this is only the beginning.
Our vision for caring for children in Haiti is expanding. We will no longer operate an orphanage, but we will continue supporting the families we’ve reunified. This support includes pastoral care, parenting classes, financial support for education and medical care, income generation activities, and beyond. We are also committed to the education of the young adults who graduated out of the orphanage.
Last year we launched our Transition Support Services program, and to date we have been part of 60 reunifications. As we look ahead for Child Hope, we believe we can have the greatest impact by growing the TSS program.
Our “Big Holy Audacious Goal” is to help all 32,000 “orphans” living in Haitian orphanages to become sons and daughters, thriving in a loving family.
