Summer break is about more than time away from school. For children, it’s also an opportunity to discover new interests, develop new skills, and imagine what might be possible for their future.
This summer, five children supported through Child Hope International had the opportunity to participate in enrichment activities that did just that. Two children attended a crocheting camp, two participated in English classes, and another attended a camp where he learned about designing and creating streetwear clothing.
These activities may seem like small things, but they can make a big difference.
Through crocheting, children develop creativity and patience while learning a skill they can carry with them. English classes open doors to communication and future educational and employment opportunities. Learning about clothing design gives a child a chance to explore creativity and begin thinking about what they might want to do someday.
And that’s what makes these opportunities so meaningful.
Thanks to their sponsors, these children aren’t simply having their basic needs met. They are living with their families, attending school, and receiving the support they need to grow. They are also being given opportunities to learn, grow, and dream about their futures.
For children who have experienced difficult circumstances, being able to participate in a summer activity simply because they are interested in it can be significant. It gives them space to discover what they enjoy, recognize their abilities, and begin imagining a future filled with possibilities.
