Our Transition Support Services program has two main activities: 1) hosting workshops to train social workers and 2) consulting directly with organizations that are expanding their family-based care services.
Workshops
In September we hosted our 7th family-based care workshop, which was attended by 20 Haitian social workers and orphanage staff.
Here are testimonials from two workshop attendees:
This training will be very beneficial for our institution. We’ve been in the reunification business for several years, but we have a lot of weaknesses. Thanks to this training, we’re going to correct our imperfections and improve the way we do family reunification within the institution.

Within our institution, we haven’t yet started with family reunification. But thanks to the training we received from Child Hope International, we now have the tools we need to embark on the logic of family reunification. But first, we’re going to duplicate this training with the other members of our staff; then, we’re going to discuss the possibility of embarking on family reunification with the people in charge of the institution.

To date we have trained 137 Haitian social workers/orphanage staff who are responsible for over 6,800 children. Many of the orphanages have begun adding reunificaiton services and safely reuniting children with families.
Consulting
We began our consulting services in 2020. Since then, we have worked with over a dozen organizations which have safely reunited 94 children with families. This is no small miracle considering the challenging environment Haiti has been over that time span.
Recently we have been updating documents and working to expand our parenting curriculum so that the content we share with other organizations can be even more useful to them as they embark on restoring and reuniting families.
