After a decade of providing care to orphans and vulnerable children, Child Hope felt God was placing an even higher call on the ministry – to invest in families. In 2016 we began to explore family-based care for the children living at the orphanage. Over the past six years we have placed 18 children and
This story was originally written in June 2022. An update is included at the end of the post. Things have never been easy in Haiti, and Child Hope is no stranger to overcoming adversity, but lately, things seem even more difficult than usual. Staggering inflation, food and fuel shortages, and the increasing threat of violence
When we began family reunification for “Nadia,” we quickly found her grandma. Nadia’s grandma said she wanted to be part of her granddaughter’s life. They had several meetings and were developing a close bond. Our social workers completed one assessment after the next and the reunification was on track. We had a lot of interest and were forced to cap the attendance at 20! The workshop began with high-level sessions on the rights of the child and
It has been a difficult time for Haiti, and a difficult week for our staff on the ground as many have gotten word of relatives’ homes in ruin after the massive earthquake. One of our families reunited in the south lost their home completely, but they are safe, as are the rest of our children,
