Group Counseling – Feeling is Thinking!

This month our staff psychologist introduced the children to an 8 week group therapy program called Feeling is Thinking (FisT). FisT focuses on working with children who experience difficulties in their interpersonal relationships. Often these children struggle with expressing their feelings, in particular anger, sadness and frustration. The program assists them in identifying their anger triggers and provides them with a number positive strategies to deal with conflict.

The topic for Week 1 is “Getting to Know One Another.” The children played a game with balloons which is designed to enhance teamwork. Later they drew a feeling on their balloon and showed it to the group. The group had to guess the feelings drawn.

The FisT program is off to a great start!
