Recently, our social worker and staff pastor in Haiti’s South Department visited three families we support. What they found was both encouraging and deeply insightful.
In the first home, they witnessed remarkable growth in a young man who is stepping into new responsibility within his family. He is now helping prepare meals for his aunt and sisters, quietly demonstrating maturity, care, and leadership.
In another visit, two sisters proudly introduced our team to their livestock—an income-generating resource that is helping support their family. What makes this especially meaningful is how it began: these animals were purchased through funds the girls earned by participating in our Bible memorization contest over the past two years. Their hard work and dedication have not only deepened their faith, but also created a tangible source of provision for their household.
The third family shared a different kind of story—one marked by ongoing hardship. Their home sustained significant damage during Hurricane Melissa last year, and this visit gave our team a clearer understanding of the challenges they are still facing. It also created an opportunity to listen, pray together, and begin identifying how we can best support their recovery moving forward.
Each family we visited is navigating its own set of challenges. In every case, our social worker and pastor were able to offer encouragement, guidance, and care tailored to each situation.
Since hiring a dedicated social worker in the South last year, we’ve already seen the difference it makes. Being closer to these families allows for more consistent visits, deeper understanding, and more responsive support. It means we can walk with families more faithfully as they face both progress and hardship.
These moments remind us why this work matters. Growth is happening. Faith is taking root. Families are being strengthened.
Thank you for being part of a community that makes this kind of care possible.
