Support for Graduates

According to an article in the Miami Herald published in May 2019, Haiti has a 17.7 percent inflation rate, and Haitians are spending more than 50 percent of their income on food. Meanwhile food prices have gone up by more than 20 percent in the past year.

Many of the graduates and families we serve have raised these issues with us and asked for support. While Child Hope International tries to avoid giving handouts which may lead to dependency instead of self-sufficiency, we were compelled to take action and help. By offering emergency food care packages to graduates, we have actually been able to reconnect with some graduates who had stopped reaching out, and it provided our social workers the opportunity to visit families that have completed the reunification process.
